September/October 2004

Session News

  •  ATL rock producer Butch Walker, brought some sessions into Stonehenge this month.  Mixing two singles for Japanese film,TV, and recording star, Yuji Oda, with hometown engineer/mixer Russ T. Cobb, assisted by Mauricio Serna.  Walker also spent a couple days tracking Island/Def Jam rock outfit, Injected, Russ T. engineered, assisted by "Dred".
  • Universal Records artist, Goodfella, locked out ZAC A and B tracking for upcoming debut. Neezy producing with Kelly "Dred" Liebelt engineering.  Assistance and additional engineering by Mauricio Serna.  Goodfella also popped into Stonehenge for a "single" mix produced by St. Nick and featuring Jagged Edge. The track was mixed by "Dred".
  • Sony UK artist, Lemar, had a couple tracks mixed with producer, Wirlie "Wyl-e" Morris.  Mixed by Kelly "Dred" Liebelt.

August 2004

Session News

  • Smash rock producer engineer, Dave Fortman camped out in Stonehenge to mix Mudvayne - their third release on Epic Records, with Jeremy Parker behind the ProTools screen.  Fortman and Parker assisted by Mauricio Serna and Dred.
  • Interscope Records artist, Rich Boy in ZAC A tracking for upcoming debut. Polow producing with Jarvis Blackshear engineering.
  • Engineer Paul Hagar dropped into Stonehenge to mix for Atlantic Records female rockers, The Donna's.  Local ATL rocker, Butch Walker produced the tracks.  Assisted by Kelly 'Dred' Liebelt.
  • Universal/Motown artist/producer, AKON, was in ZAC A recently tracking new cuts for ATL resident hit crooner, Keith Sweat, and latest Disney pop diva, Lindsey Lohan.
  • Blackout Records artist, Fione Simone, in tracking new cuts for upcoming Universal Records release with producer Drama of Drop 4.  Alec Newell engineering.

March 2004

Session News

  • Atlanta rockers, The Hiss, tracked in Stonehenge for their follow-up release of 2003's Panic Movement, for Universal/Loog. Producer, Mike Patterson ( Beck, BRMC) drove the ship with engineering and assistance by Kelly 'Dred'.
  • Grammy winning producer /engineer, Dave Fortman (Evanesence) recently camped out in Stonehenge to mix the upcoming 12 Stones release on Wind Up records. ProTools wiz, Jeremy Parker clicked and dragged, Kelly 'Dred' Liebelt assisted.
  • Persian Records artist, Uni-Verse (aka Keino) just wrapped up mixing on the new record. The cuts were tracked in ZAC A with Carlos Fonseca, TCash and Wes Copeland. Kelly 'Dred' mixed 'em all in Stonehenge.
  • New rock band, Lost In Rome tracked in Stonehenge for their upcoming release. JimZ and 'Dred' shared the engineering duties.
  • Engineer/Producer, Morgan Garcia, continued tracking for a Midway Sports video game NBA Ballout with music created by Phife Dog (Tribe Called Quest) and produced by Rasta Root. Garcia also engineered several tracks produced by Jazze Pha with artists Native, Goodfella and Slick and Rose.
  • Song writer/producer, Donnie Skants, just back from a writing session with Nelly in L.A., jumped right back into ZAC B tracking and jammin' on songs for Murpy Lee of St. Lunatics, including the track "Ridiculous" featuring Jazze Pha. Skants has also started production on tracks for Sparrow/EMI artist, Jayden Maria. as well as debut release for Zone4 with his production crew, State of Mind.


January/February 2004

Session News

  • Atlanta blues guitar slinger, Tinsley Ellis jammed live in Stonehenge for the recording of his sophmore release on Telarc International. Ellis produced the tracks and ZAC owner, Jim 'Z' Zumpano handled the recording and mixing, thanks to assistance by Dred. The tracks also feature Little Feat drummer, Richie Hayward, as well as guest appearances by Nashville keys player, Kevin McKendree.
  • Master guitarist, Tony Papamicheal returned to Stonehenge to mix his upcoming indepedent but yet, untitled release. Papa recorded and produced all the tracks and long time Papa fan and engineer , Jim 'Z' Zumpano put the mix on it. Kelly 'Dred' Liebelt assisted.
  • Producer, Edd Miller dropped into Stonehenge to get that big room B3 vibe with local keyboard hero, Tom Grose. Miller is producing the Harold Arlen tribute record, alongside Arlen's surviving son, Sam and is due out late 2004. Arlen is best known for his compositions for the Wizard of Oz's "Over the Rainbow" and "Off to See the Wizard" as well as "It's Only a Paper Moon", "Stormy Weather" and "I've Got the World on String". The record release will coincide with the centenial anniversary of Arlen's birth.
  • Engineer/producer, Morgan Garcia recently moved into ZAC's front room. Garcia has been busy tracking, mixing or mastering projects on Dirty Rose for Brian Michael Cox productions, Phife Dawg from Tribe Called Quest for an upcoming compilation release and southern rapper Stat Quo, just recently signed to Dre's Shady/Aftermath label. Current productions include Backbone, 4Ize and Lil Scrappy.
  • Song writer/producer, Donnie Skants (Aaliyah, Bubba Sparxx,Toni Braxton) has been busy in the ZAC B suite producing songs for State of Emergency, featuring Candipie. Skants is also slated to produce cuts on upcoming releases by Nelly, St. Lunatics and the Spike TV network.
  • Upstairs Studio (formerly Southern Living) has had some activity with Essential Records artist, Overflow, produced by Scotty Wilbanks and Third Days' Mac Powell. Russ Fowler mixed assisted by James Salter. Drop Sonic, produced by local hit maker, Dallas Austin dropped in to track. Engineered by veteran Athens rocker, Dave Barbe assisted by James Salter and Vic Stafford. Upcoming projects include Pageant and Hankshaw.


ZAC is the first Atlanta facility to offer a complete neighborhood of audio services. The multi-room complex hosts two unique analog studios, three Pro Tools digital suites and an equipment rental house, nestled on a quaint wooded lot in Upper Mid-Town.
